Tom Cruise has officially unveiled the title and first trailer for the eighth installment in the Mission: Impossible series.
Mission: Dead Reckoning was the first film, and the sequel, Impossible—The Final Reckoning, was always meant to be “Par” Two.” Fa”s can expect the movie to be released on May 23, 2025. Its release was later pushed back until 2022, though the pandemic and the SAG-AFTRA activities delayed it. Cruise revealed the title on Monday, followed by a striking poster titled ‘Every choice leads to this’.
The action-packed trailer shows Cruise diving into a sunken submarine, piloting a biplane and free-falling from it, and continuing with his infamous sprints. The trailer also confirms Angela BassBassett’surn as CIA Director Erika Sloane, a role she last played in Mission: Impossible—Fallout.
In Dead Reckoning, Ethan Hunt, played by Tom Cruise, goes up against one of his most complex challenges, a powerful AI program named ‘The’Entity.’ If in the wrong hands, this rogue AI can predict his every move, which would be catastrophic. In’s intense climax, Ethan narrowly escapes a huge train crash. But the danger is not over yet. He learns that The Entity was aboard an old Russian submarine. Gabriel (Esai Morales) also, after EthaEthan’s one dangerous character from EthaEthan’st bringing on a high stakes showdown.
Esai Morales reprises his role in the upcoming Mission. Other familiar faces are Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, Hayley Atwell, Vanessa Kirby, Pom Klementieff, Shea Whigham, Henry Czerny, Greg Tarzan Davis, Mariela Garriga and Indira Varma. Newcomers Tramell Tillman, Hannah Waddingham, Nick Offerman, Janet McTeer, Holt McCallany and Katy O’BrO’Briann the franchise.
Director Christopher McQuarrie, who helmed Rogue Nation, Fallout, and Dead Reckoning, returns plus Eglinton as co-writer, starting the streak. McQuarrie is a frequent collaborator with Tom Cruise, having worked together on the Jack Reacher films and Top Gun: Maverick. Written by McQuarrie, Bruce Geller and Erik Jendresen, the script is the brains behind the script. Also, producers are Cruise and McQuarrie, and also producing are Chris Brock, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Tommy Gormley, Don Granger and Susan Novick. Co-producer Gina Hallas joins the team.
